Alva Christo Y. W. is a photographer who enjoys capturing cultures and daily life through photojournalism and street photography. Alva was born and raised in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and he is currently pursuing his education at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, majoring in Photography and Imaging. Traditional analog photography is his main choice that is supported by his camera-collecting hobby.
Alva explores daily life and cultural activities, presented in stories and photographic series. The focus is simply to create a connection between viewers and the subject itself; the viewers might experience the same particular issue from different perspectives - there is an interaction between the subject, Alva, and the viewers. Although culture is his main interest, he also explores broader photography genres such as portraiture, landscape, and contemporary themes.
